Job Requirements
include, but are not limited to the following:
- Educational
Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications - Valid Ohio Driver's
License or state issued ID. Pet Care Services Ass'n. Certified CPCT
or CAPCT or acceptable equivalent
- Work
Experience and Related Job Knowledge - Knowledge of commonly owned
pets, especially dogs and cats, for safe handling, bathing, and care.
It is required that no pet be made the target of anger, abuse, neglect,
or mishandling in any way. Refer to the "PSCA

- Communication
Skills - Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
Reading skills to read and understand directives, instructions, procedures,
and employee handbook. Computer literate or willing to learn.
- Interpersonal
Skills - It is a very important ability to handle client and co-worker
communication in a tactful, reassuring, and courteous manner. Ability
to project a positive image of personal competence as reflects on the
business which offers these services.
- Physical
Requirements & General Abilities - Ability to perform all essential
job functions. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and
to walk over uneven surfaces. Ability to lift 50 pounds and handle most
dogs on lead. Ability to work two weekends a month and/or a flexible
schedule. During the summer, the schedule is based on these hours: Monday
7-1 or 1-7 pm, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8-5 pm, Wednesday, Saturday
and Sunday 8-1 pm.
- Job
Summary - Tasks include following:
- Bathing
and preparation of dogs for grooming, some basic grooming with opportunity
to increase grooming; Cleaning of grooming area and equipment
- Telephone
answering, reception of boarding and grooming clients, checking
pets both in and out, making and confirming appointments and reservations,
updating records on client's pets, sweeping and cleaning in reception
area, supervise aides.
- Cleaning
of kennel runs and walkways, feeding, changing water in the boarding
areas.
- Exercising
and walking boarding or grooming dogs as needed; Operating digital
camera.
- Participation
in promotional activities such as community event booth, parade,
other
- Any
task assigned by the proprietor that will improve or maintain the
appearance and activities of the business.
